The City Council of Madrid plans to approve this Monday the start of the construction of the first 13,371 homes in Valdecarros. The area of Works and Equipment, led by Paloma García Romero, will grant the authorization for simultaneous execution to make compatible the urbanization and building works corresponding to stage 1.

This procedure marks a new milestone in the development of the large southeastern area, allowing different developers to begin raising the first promotions as soon as they have the necessary licenses. With this decision, the City Council effectively promotes the start of the first 13,371 homes of the 51,000 contemplated in the sector's planning.

Valdecarros is the largest of the Southeastern Developments, with an area of 19 million square meters, equivalent to approximately half of the urban land of the city of Seville. The urbanization project has been organized into eight stages, of which the first three are already under execution and the initial stage shows a very high degree of progress.

The new development will have capacity for about 150,000 residents and will house 51,000 homes, of which around 55% will have some form of public protection. Almost 40% of the area will be allocated to green spaces, where the planting of more than 110,000 trees is planned, so that any home in Valdecarros will be located less than 200 meters from a landscaped area. In addition, the neighborhood will have more than 127 kilometers of bike lanes and pedestrian paths.

With the authorization approved this Monday, the areas of Los Cerros, Los Ahijones, Los Berrocales, and Valdecarros already have, in different phases of development, permits for simultaneous execution that allow overlapping urbanization with residential construction.

Thanks to this, in these four developments it is possible to build 31,525 homes out of the more than 108,000 planned. Currently, 5,219 homes are under construction (349 in Los Cerros, 1,450 in Los Ahijones, and 3,420 in Los Berrocales) and 110 have been completed in Los Berrocales.
