The current deputy of the Assembly of Melilla and spokesperson for the Socialist Parliamentary Group, Riduan Moh, will be the one to finally lead the PSOE of Melilla's candidacy for the Congress of Deputies in the general elections scheduled for next November 29.
Moh, brother of the Government delegate in Melilla and general secretary of the Melilla PSOE, Sabrina Moh, has been designated by the Regional Executive Committee as number one on the list for Congress. In the previous general elections on July 23, 2023, he ran as a candidate for the Senate for this same party.
According to the party's explanation in a press release, the election of Riduan Moh is based on "his parliamentary experience and knowledge of the city's needs, acquired during his work as a deputy in the Assembly and spokesperson for the socialist group."
The PSOE emphasizes that its lists "combine institutional experience and new perspectives," with the aim of "defending the interests of Melilla before the General Courts and incorporating new ideas into the socialist political project."
In this line, the socialist organization highlights that the updating of the candidacies "is not limited to the incorporation of new names, but responds to the will to combine efforts, strengthen its connection with society, and continue working for the rights and opportunities of the Melilla citizenry."
In the general elections of 2023, the head of the list for Congress was María José Lenferding, while Concha López and Riduan Moh himself ran for the Senate. Now, the PSOE of Melilla sets as its goal to take away the hegemony from the PP, which has been imposing itself uninterruptedly in the Melilla constituency since 1996, achieving election after election the three national representatives at stake: one deputy and two senators.
SENATE
Regarding the Upper House, the Melilla PSOE has confirmed that it will run alone with Lucía Rubio and Manuel García as socialist candidates, as the organization communicated this Friday.
Lucía Rubio, general secretary of the Socialist Youth of Melilla (JSME), aims to convey to the institutions "the concerns of the new generations." Her agenda prioritizes "access to housing, employment, and education."
The regional direction of the party has emphasized the need to grant greater political weight to youth, convinced that they must assume a key role in the processes of social transformation and in the generation of new opportunities.
The second candidate of the PSOE for the Senate will be Manuel García, Secretary of Education of the Regional Executive Commission of the PSME-PSOE. His incorporation, according to the formation, also symbolizes a commitment to renewal and the entry of new profiles into the local political scene.
His trajectory linked to the educational field serves the party to highlight public education as an essential tool to guarantee equality of opportunities and promote social progress.
With these three candidacies, which still must be ratified by the Federal Executive Commission, the PSOE of Melilla intends to go to the polls on November 29 "with the declared commitment to strengthen the representation of the city in the General Courts and defend its interests in the State institutions."
