The Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda decided to remove last night the interactive map included in the new Casa 47 website, after Sumar denounced that it "violated international law" by not recognizing the Sahara and showing it as part of Morocco.
The Government had presented this Monday, at an event led by President Pedro Sánchez, the online portal of the state housing and land company. The platform starts with about 800 property listings available and it is expected to incorporate soon another 1,500 homes distributed throughout the country.
After the launch of the website, Sumar and Compromís criticized that the incorporated map did not recognize the Sahara and integrated it within Morocco, demanding its removal as they understood it also contravened "Spain's commitment" to the Sahrawi people.
In addition, various media pointed out that the Casa 47 map represented the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla as territories in dispute with Morocco, which added controversy to the cartographic tool.
In light of these complaints, sources from the Ministry of Housing confirmed last night to Europa Press that the map had finally been removed from the website.
