SAS has appointed Fernando García as the new general director in Spain with the aim of reinforcing the strategic position of the company in the country and strengthening its commitment to responsible innovation, digital talent development, and technological transformation.
The company detailed this Tuesday in a statement that among its priorities will be to intensify ties with public bodies, business associations, academic institutions, clients, and strategic partners, to consolidate the ecosystem around its solutions.
In addition, he will assume the representation of the company in Spain and will help enhance its visibility in the main institutional and technological forums, conveying SAS's vision on the responsible use of data and artificial intelligence (AI).
García will balance these new institutional responsibilities with his current position as Senior Director for the EMEA Consulting Delivery Hub, from which he coordinates consulting projects in the region.
With a career of more than 18 years at SAS, he has extensive internal knowledge of the organization after having led the consulting area in regions such as West Europe or Spain and Portugal.
This department has a strategic role for the company due to its contribution to revenue, client volume, and the generation of value in human capital. The appointment comes at a key moment for the advancement of artificial intelligence in Spain.
According to "The Data and AI Impact Report: The New Economics of Trust," a new report from SAS based on the results of an IDC research, Spain has managed to position itself practically at the level of the global average in trust and governance of AI, while strengthening the mechanisms and controls that support its responsible use.
The challenge now is to translate those advances into greater business and social impact, driving AI adoption based on transparency, data quality, and trust.
