The counselor of Finance, Public Administration, and Social Dialogue of the Junta de Extremadura, Elena Manzano, plans to register this Friday, October 16, the draft Law of General Budgets of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura for 2027.

The new regional accounts arrive at the Assembly of Extremadura after receiving the green light this Thursday from an extraordinary Council of Government of the Junta.

The formal registration will take place at 11:30 a.m. at the headquarters of the Assembly of Extremadura and, subsequently, at 11:40 a.m., the head of Finance will deliver the Draft Law of General Budgets of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura for 2027 to the first vice president of the regional Chamber, Domingo Expósito, in the Autonomy Room.

Later, at 11:50 a.m., Elena Manzano will detail in a press conference the content of the Draft Law of General Budgets of Extremadura 2027, also in the Autonomy Room of the Assembly.

A 4.8% increase in spending and social priority

The draft Law of general budgets of Extremadura 2027 reaches 9,254 million euros, which means 425 million euros more than in 2026, that is, an increase of 4.8 percent.

The forecasts have been designed with an estimated GDP growth of 1.8 percent, according to calculations backed by the Airef, and contemplate a deficit of 0.1 percent, as detailed by Elena Manzano in the appearance following the extraordinary Council of Government in which the accounts were approved.

According to the counselor, almost 70 percent of the budget, 6,242 million euros, is directed towards social policies, while 1,973 million euros are reserved for economic policies.

Within this social block, the Department of Health and Dependency Care will have more than 3,500 million euros, nearly 40 percent of the total accounts, aimed at strengthening health infrastructures, new delivery rooms in the Maternal and Child Hospital of Badajoz, and new vaccines.

In Dependency, allocations are contemplated to expand proximity services and launch new resources for aging, disability, and mental health care, in addition to Madex, which will have 63.45 million euros, 5.2 million euros more than in 2026.

In the educational field, the budget allocates 1.732 billion euros for school transportation, cafeterias, improvement and adaptation of educational infrastructures, Vocational Training, and University.

Tax cuts and tax incentives

In the fiscal chapter, the counselor has emphasized that these accounts continue on the path of tax reduction and relief of the tax burden on Extremaduran taxpayers. Thus, a reduction of the personal income tax (IRPF) in the first two brackets, of 0.5 percent, is included, so that the first bracket is set at 7.5 percent and the second at 9.5 percent, which are "the lowest brackets of all the regional rates in our country."

The project also includes a reduction of the Tax on Property Transfers and Documented Legal Acts, which decreases from 4 to 3.5 percent for those under 36 years old, people with disabilities, and large and single-parent families.

Alongside this, new deductions are included for people affected by thalidomide, as well as a specific deduction of 4,000 euros for polio patients.
