The spokesperson for the Socialist Parliamentary Group in the Assembly of Extremadura, Isabel Gil Rosiña, has advanced that the PSOE has filed the request for the appearance of the Director General of Digital Health for the purpose of him "giving parliamentary explanations" about the recent cyberattack that has affected the Extremadura Health Service (SES).
Through a statement, the Socialists have emphasized that what happened is of "special gravity," since it "affects the information systems and the handling of users' data of the SES, including especially sensitive information such as citizens' medical records".
Gil Rosiña sees it as "necessary" for the Junta to offer public clarifications and "clear up the doubts" generated after the attack became known through the media.
Along these lines, the spokesperson for the PSOE has raised why the regional government did not report what happened "until the arrest of the alleged responsible person for the cyberattack and the news became public through the media".
Concern over the security of the Jara system
Likewise, the Socialists have focused on the security of the Jara computer system. According to Gil Rosiña, based on the information released, the entry point of the cyberattack would have been the online health center service and the procedure for requesting a medical appointment.
For this reason, the PSOE demands to know whether the Jara system is at this moment "exposed to any real risk" and whether the Junta has implemented "additional measures" to those already in force to shield the protection of the personal and clinical data of SES users.
Gil Rosiña has underlined that the public "needs to know" exactly what happened and what guarantees exist regarding the security of their health information.
Consequently, the Socialist Parliamentary Group considers that there are "sufficient reasons" for the Director General of Digital Health to appear in the Assembly of Extremadura and detail what the current situation is and what specific actions the Junta is carrying out.
