The calendar of the general elections of November 29 is already underway and citizens who choose to vote by mail can start the procedures to do so from this Tuesday. The application can be submitted until November 19, inclusive, both electronically and in person at the Post Offices.
The call for the elections has been officially published this Tuesday in the Official State Bulletin, after the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will sign on Monday the royal decree for the dissolution of the Cortes and the electoral call. The elections will be held on Sunday, November 29.

How to request a mail-in vote
Voters can make the request through the Correos website, without the need to go to an office. To complete the process this way, it is necessary to identify oneself and sign electronically using a valid digital certificate or the electronic DNI, with the corresponding technical requirements.
It is also possible to request the vote in person at any Correos office in Spain. In this case, the voter must go in person and prove their identity with the original DNI, passport, or driver's license.
The request by another person is only provided for cases of illness or disability that prevent the voter from personally completing the process, and requires the corresponding notarial or consular authorization.
Correos also offers the possibility to request an appointment to carry out the process in the office, through its digital channels.
When will the documentation arrive?
Once the request is submitted, Correos will send the requests to the provincial delegations of the Electoral Census Office. The necessary documentation to vote by mail will begin to be sent starting from November 9.
The documentation will be sent to the address that the voter has indicated in their request. This address does not have to match their usual residence, a possibility especially relevant for those who are temporarily in another location.
November 25, last day to vote by mail
The calendar marks another date in red: November 25 will be the last day to submit the mail-in vote, four days before the election day.
Thus, those who choose this option must keep in mind three main dates:
- November 19: last day to request the mail-in vote.
- November 9: begins the sending of documentation to the applicants.
- November 25: last day to submit the vote.
- November 29: general election day.
The electoral campaign will begin at 00:00 hours on November 13 and will last until midnight on November 27, according to the call decree published this Tuesday.
With the Cortes already dissolved and the electoral calendar underway, the mail-in vote thus opens one of the first deadlines on the path to the polls on November 29.
