The Nursing Technicians Union (SAE) has taken advantage of the celebration of Pharmacy Technician Day to demand that the work of these professionals be effectively valued, through their professional reclassification, the increase of staff, the promotion of continuing education, and the review and updating of their functions.

With this initiative, the SAE aims to give greater visibility to the daily work of pharmacy technicians, a task that, in their opinion, often goes "unnoticed" despite being "indispensable" and having "a direct implication on the health and safety of patients." Among their duties are the dispensing of medications, inventory control, magistral formulation, patient care, collaboration with pharmacists, and the management of health products.

At the same time, the union has emphasized the main demands of the group and, in addition to that professional recognition, has called for "good continuing education" and "protocols that guarantee their safety," reminding that in their activity they may be forced to handle toxic and dangerous drugs.

"Making pharmacy technicians visible is giving a voice to a group that guarantees our health, our well-being, and, of course, our safety," highlighted the Secretary of Social Action of SAE, Serafín Pintor.
