The Nursing Technicians Union (SAE) has launched various initiatives aimed at raising awareness and training citizens in the correct application of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Coinciding with the celebration of World CPR Day, SAE has distributed an informational brochure in hospitals and health centers detailing how to proceed in the event of a cardiorespiratory arrest. At the same time, the union has organized workshops in public spaces, such as the one developed alongside the Red Cross in Navarra, with the aim of conveying to citizens the significance of this maneuver and showing them, practically, how to perform it.
"Our work in hospitals is not limited to healthcare assistance, but also to health education, playing a crucial role in the prevention of various pathologies. Therefore, during this day we have approached the users of our healthcare system to show them the relevance that information and knowledge of certain practices and techniques have when it comes to saving lives," stated the Secretary of Social Action of SAE, Serafín Pastor.
The organization emphasizes that CPR constitutes a basic skill that can be decisive in emergency situations. It reminds that, in the event of a cardiorespiratory arrest, every minute is crucial and that a single minute of delay in care reduces the chances of survival by 10 percent, "which makes the internalization of the maneuver essential," it adds.
"Likewise, at SAE we want to take advantage of this day to highlight the role of nursing care technicians in the educational field and to once again demand our presence in classrooms, where we can provide information, training, and detect both physical and psychological health problems," concluded Pintor.
