The Argentine Executive has officially confirmed that President Javier Milei will travel to Madrid next week, in the initial stretch towards the early general elections called in Spain for November 29. It will be the seventh visit of the Argentine head of state to Spanish territory since he arrived at the Casa Rosada in December 2023, with the intention of supporting right-wing forces during the campaign.
The presidential spokesperson, Adrián Ravier, has confirmed the trip in his usual appearance, specifying that he will be part of the delegation and that the group will land in the Spanish capital on Tuesday, October 20. "It is a trip that also has its scheduled agenda. When the details are available, we will inform," Ravier indicated.
According to information published by the newspaper 'Clarín', Milei will depart on Monday, October 19, and will take advantage of the tour to confront the government of Pedro Sánchez again and stage his support for his ideological allies, presumably the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, with whom he maintains a close rapport. It is also not ruled out that he will make gestures towards the Popular Party, particularly towards the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
The trip is part of Milei's strategy to get involved in electoral processes in other countries and expand his international political projection. This line of action was claimed this Sunday by the Argentine Foreign Minister, Pablo Quirno, who highlighted the effect of the president's support and recalled that in the last seven elections held in the region in the last ten months "all candidates supported by President Milei won."
In the same vein, Ravier emphasized this Tuesday Milei's support for U.S. President Donald Trump, looking ahead to the upcoming midterm elections scheduled in the North American country for November 3, as well as for the far-right Flávio Bolsonaro, who will face the current Brazilian president, Lula da Silva, in a runoff on October 25.
"Of course, Javier Milei's support for Bolsonaro is explicit and the idea that Brazil can also join the economies that are embracing the ideas of freedom. We are optimistic for the runoff (the second vote that takes place between the two most voted candidates in the first) and the result will be seen soon," the spokesperson emphasized.
