At least two people have lost their lives and another ten have been injured in a series of Russian attacks recorded during the night of Monday against the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, very close to the border with Russia. Emergency units are still deployed in the affected area, maintaining search and rescue tasks amid fears that "there may be another person trapped" under the rubble of the damaged buildings.

"A body has been found under the rubble of a house in the district of Jolodnohirsk; the search and rescue operation continues," stated Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terejov on social media in the early hours of Tuesday.

Moments later, the mayor specified that "another body has been found under the rubble of the same building and there is a possibility that there may be another person trapped underneath." "In addition to the two deceased, it is known that ten people were injured in the evening bombing," he indicated.

According to information disseminated by the state Emergency Service through social media, the attack has hit "residential areas and civil infrastructure" in the districts of Jolodnohirski and Shevchenkivski. The agency has warned that "one of the missiles struck a four-story residential building, completely destroying the entrance."

"It is possible that there are people trapped under the rubble," the agency pointed out, emphasizing that "fire extinguishing and emergency rescue operations continue," while "units from the State Emergency Service, explosive deactivation specialists, canine teams, National Police agents, medical personnel, volunteers, and municipal services" are providing assistance.
