The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has attacked this Saturday the recently awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize, the South African jurist Navanethem Pillay. The president has asserted that "nobody knows anything about her" and has accused her of "hating Israel," while again criticizing the Norwegian Committee for not having awarded him the prize, claiming credit for "having resolved eight wars."

"This is the woman who has received the Nobel Peace Prize over the United States and whose representative, I, has resolved eight wars and many other things. I know nothing about this woman, and neither does anyone else! In fact, to my knowledge, no one has heard of her beyond the fact that, evidently, she hates Israel. I don't know what this woman has done. I have resolved eight wars," Trump discussed in an extensive post on his social media.

The Republican leader then listed several conflicts that, according to his version, he would have managed to end, despite many of them still being active. With these arguments, Trump has claimed that, in reality, he "should have already won eight" Nobel Prizes.

In his message, he also recalled the event in which the Venezuelan opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize 2024, María Corina Machado, symbolically presented him with her own award, a gesture that the former president has praised again.

"I have saved more lives than anyone in history and, as María Corina Machado, a truly admirable person, stated to the media when she handed me her Nobel Prize from last year: 'Donald Trump has ended many wars and deserves the Nobel Peace Prize more than anyone else who has ever received it.' Considering my peace record, a record that no one else has ever achieved, I agree!" he declared.

In the same text, the former U.S. president has claimed credit for the release of all Israeli hostages after collaborating with Hamas, the capture of former Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro, and the halt to Iran's military capabilities. He has also defended that his administration prevented armed clashes between the two Koreas, Japan, China, and Taiwan, and has boasted of having pushed NATO allies to increase their defense spending to 5% of GDP.

"Despite all this, today the Nobel Prize has been awarded to a liberal person who works at the United Nations and whom nobody has ever heard of," explained Trump, who has once again lashed out at the organization by stating that "it has never been of any use" to dialogue with it.

"The Nobel Prize for 'Peace' has been discredited forever by a handful of radical ideologues who are antidemocratic and enemies of civilization!", he concluded.

In a later message, Trump reiterated his supposed merits for receiving the Nobel and lamented that "despite this, neither I nor the United States of America have achieved the Nobel Peace Prize."

"I have resolved eight wars and I am close to finishing two more, I secured the return of all Israeli hostages, including the last 28, both alive and dead. I have secured hundreds of hostages from all countries around the world who have returned home," he stated.

Trump added that "I have won a war in Venezuela and I have captured the violent dictator who so malevolently ruled the country and I have prevented the main sponsor of terrorism, the Islamic Republic of Iran, from having nuclear weapons,... and much more!".

Born in South Africa in 1941, international jurist Navi Pillay succeeds Venezuelan opposition figure María Corina Machado, recognized in 2024 for her "tireless effort" in defending rights and freedoms in Venezuela and for promoting a "fair and peaceful" transition from "dictatorship to democracy".
