The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, stated this Wednesday during a visit to the Gaza Strip that Israel will not abandon the territory. From the area, he emphasized that the Army maintains control of approximately 60% of the enclave and reiterated: "There is work to be done and we will complete it."
"We are in the Gaza Strip with the Chief of Staff, the commander-in-chief, and our heroic soldiers. We control this area," he indicated in a video shared on his social media, in which he appears dressed in military uniform and claims to be inside the Strip.
Netanyahu has insisted that Israel dominates a large part of the Gazan territory. "We will not withdraw. We will stay on this line. We control 60% of the Strip, and there is still much to do because we are eliminating the terrorists who threaten us," he declared.
As an example of the ongoing operations, he mentioned the capture of Muein al Arabid, responsible for the internal security apparatus of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), detained near his home in the Gaza Strip. "We are doing everything to achieve our goal: disarm Hamas of its weapons and demilitarize Gaza," he emphasized.
In this same vein, he reiterated that the enclave "will no longer be a threat to Israel." "This objective, to a large extent, has already been achieved, but there is work to be done and we will complete it," he stated in the aforementioned recording.
According to information released by his office, the head of the Israeli Government has visited a position of the Israel Defense Forces located near the Yellow Line, within the Gaza Strip.
During this visit, he received a detailed report from the commanders deployed in the area regarding the ongoing operational missions, as well as the efforts to neutralize threats and ensure the security of both the troops and the nearby settlements.
