At least two people have been injured this Saturday after a projectile attributed to the Houthi militia from Yemen hit the governorate of Al Tuwal, in the Saudi region of Jizan, near the border with Yemen, according to the Saudi Civil Defense.
The impact has also caused material damage to a mosque, as well as to several buildings and vehicles, according to the balance reported by Saudi authorities, collected by local media such as the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) or the newspaper 'Saudi Gazette'.
The Civil Defense teams have moved to the site of the incident and have activated the established protocols to deal with this type of situation, according to a spokesperson for the agency.
The Saudi official has condemned the offensive and has emphasized that any attack against facilities and civilian targets constitutes a "flagrant violation of International Humanitarian Law".
The incident is part of the rise in security tensions in southern Saudi Arabia, which has seen attacks attributed to the Houthis in recent days, a group backed by Iran that fights against the internationally recognized Yemeni government supported by Riyadh.
Previously, on the same Saturday, the Yemeni Houthi militias had announced an attack with projectiles and drones against an arsenal and against command centers of the Saudi Armed Forces in Sharurah in retaliation for this country's support of the Yemeni Executive.
