The Russian authorities reported this Tuesday the capture of two more localities in the Ukrainian province of Kharkiv, in the northeast of the country, in the context of their recent advances on the ground since the beginning of the invasion launched in February 2022 by order of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has indicated in a brief message disseminated on social media that "Units of the Northern group of forces have established their control over the localities of Dolgenkoe and Berezniki, in the province of Kharkiv," without providing data on possible casualties in the confrontations or reactions from the Ukrainian authorities.

In recent months, Moscow has been communicating progress on the eastern front of Ukraine, with special emphasis on the province of Donetsk. This area, along with Luhansk, both integrated into the Donbas region, had already been the scene since 2014 of a conflict between pro-Russian separatist militias and Ukrainian government forces.
