The naval forces of the coalition for Yemen led by Saudi Arabia have reported that they have "frustrated a plot to carry out imminent attacks" in the southern area of the Red Sea, near the strategic Bab el Mandeb strait, through an operation in which "legitimate military targets" of the Houthi rebel militias would have been destroyed.

"We have frustrated a plot to carry out imminent attacks against waterways in the southern Red Sea," noted on social media the spokesperson for the coalition forces, Turki al Maliki, while reporting on the military action.

In the chain of messages disseminated, the military representative has placed this result within "a military operation" executed by the naval forces of the coalition in the Yemeni province of Hodeida, linked to "the coalition's objectives of protecting the security of maritime navigation in the Bab el Mandeb strait."

According to Al Maliki, the offensive has resulted in "the destruction of legitimate military targets belonging to the Houthi terrorist militia," among them "weapon depots, warehouses where bomb boats and naval mines" used by the insurgents were stored.

The coalition has announced this operation at a time marked by the counteroffensive of the forces of the Yemeni government recognized by the international community, a campaign backed by Riyadh and its allies that has so far achieved advances such as the recovery of the strategic city of Mocha, which the Houthis had captured on September 10 during their offensive on the southwestern coast of the country, with which they threatened to control the Bab el Mandeb passage.
