The Justice of Honduras has issued this Friday an arrest warrant against the former president of the Parliament Luis Redondo for alleged crimes linked to his actions during the counting of the presidential elections of 2025, a process that lasted for weeks and ended up granting a narrow victory to the current head of State, Nasry 'Tito' Asfura.
The magistrate responsible for the case, Anny Ochoa, has issued the arrest warrant both against Redondo and against the former manager of the National Company of Graphic Arts (ENAG), Edis Moncada, both belonging to the Liberty and Refoundation Party, according to the newspapers "La Prensa" and "El Heraldo".
Redondo, who held the Presidency of the Parliament between 2022 and 2026, faces charges for "illegal disturbance against the functioning of the institutions, usurpation of functions and two crimes of violation of the duties of officials".
The Prosecutor's Office accuses him of these crimes mainly for the creation, at the end of October 2025, of the Permanent Commission that he himself presided over, which ordered a new count of the votes, disregarding the exclusive competencies of the National Electoral Council (CNE).
The accusations also include the approval, in January 2026, of the decree that ordered the "vote by vote" recount of the elections held in November in which Asfura, of the National Party, emerged victorious.
The judicial process also extends to the other nine members of the Permanent Commission, while Moncada is charged with three crimes of violation of the duties of officials.
