At least three people have lost their lives and around thirty have been injured this Saturday in a new wave of Russian attacks against the regions of Zaporizhia, Odesa, and Sumy, in eastern Ukraine, at a time of intensification of the war initiated by Vladimir Putin in February 2022.
In the Zaporizhia region, the co-chairman of the Defense Council, Ivan Fedorov, has detailed that "Two people died and eleven were injured as a result of enemy attacks against Zaporizhia and the districts of Zaporizhia and Polohiv." The regional official has reported more than a thousand bombings in 45 different points of the territory, along with the launch of five missiles against targets located in the regional capital.
The province of Sumy, bordering Russia, has also been the subject of several attacks. The Police have reported that the impacts have caused one death and three injuries. Among the victims is a 68-year-old man who died after a drone attack in the town of Miropilska, as part of an offensive that has reached 22 municipalities in the area.
In Odesa, a massive attack against a residential area has caused at least 17 injuries, according to the regional governor, Oleg Kiper, through messages disseminated on his social networks. Although no fatalities have been confirmed at this point, the balance of injuries and material damage is considerable.
"Rescue teams, charitable organizations, utility companies, and all emergency services are working. The necessary assistance is being provided to the residents of the affected homes," Kiper has stated, emphasizing the deployment of resources to assist the affected population.
The Ukrainian Air Forces have explained that during the early morning Russia launched Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, in addition to eight Kalibr cruise missiles and six Kh-59/69 guided missiles. Regarding drones, they have detected 129 devices of the Shahed type, along with other models in the testing phase. The Ukrainian Army claims to have shot down 110 projectiles, including six Kalibr missiles, in an attempt to contain the impact of the offensive.
