The president of the United States, Donald Trump, shared this Monday on his social networks a false quote attributed to actor Denzel Washington, in which the interpreter supposedly claims that the president is "the bravest and smartest."
The text, which Trump has republished, comes from an X account called Red Eagle Updates, Noticias Águila Roja, whose name refers to the eagle as a U.S. national symbol and to the color red traditionally associated with Trump's Republican Party. The message includes the phrase: "I have never met anyone braver, smarter, or who cares more about the United States than Donald Trump," along with an image of the actor.
The post continues with the words "he is a great friend and better president." "I am proud to be a strong supporter (of his) and I will never apologize for it," concludes the viral text, which circulates accompanied by a photograph of Denzel Washington to reinforce the appearance of authenticity.
However, there is no evidence that the actor has made such statements, according to multiple verifications carried out by various U.S. media outlets. On previous occasions, this same quote had already circulated on the internet, but erroneously attributed to actor Matthew McConaughey or musician Mick Jagger, which confirms its apocryphal nature.
