The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, has reiterated that he cannot trust the "trickster" Pedro Sánchez, as he has called the president of the Government, after it now seems he is in favor of the most voted list governing, "not like in 2023," and has criticized the "childish" excuse that, in his opinion, he has used to come to the defense of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero in the case regarding the received jewels.
From Conde Duque, the Madrid mayor has shown his support for the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, emphasizing that "one cannot play with a trickster, one cannot trust a trickster," placing the debate on the governance of the most voted list as the backdrop of his criticisms.
The 'popular' leader has recalled that Feijóo proposed to Sánchez to sign a written agreement in the 2023 elections for the most voted list to govern, but the head of the Executive "did not want to sign." He then asked, "Is he really going to complain now that we do not trust him? We cannot trust him because he is a trickster, because he lost the elections, because he made deals with everyone, because there was no progressive majority. Junts is not progressive, let's be realistic," he emphasized.
In this same vein, he insisted that "with a trickster we cannot assume commitments because we know that he will absolutely defraud all of them. We have the evidence of what Sánchez is, how Sánchez acts and how Sánchez behaves. And now he is going to propose that the most voted list govern, which he precisely rejected in a debate in 2023," he reproached, accusing him of incoherence.
The jewels of Zapatero and Sánchez's defense
Questioned about Sánchez's intervention in 'La revuelta', from TVE, and the explanation he offered about Zapatero's jewels, Almeida has harshly criticized what he considers childish reasoning. "If what you have is a safe in your house and you have the jewels in the safe in your house, it is impossible that you do not know," he pointed out.
In his opinion, "in the case of Zapatero, the excuse that Sánchez gives is so childish, so childish. I think he said that he was given a revolver in Istanbul. Does he have it in a safe at home or has he left it in deposit where he has to leave it? When one receives a gift of that nature, either you leave it in deposit or you have it in a safe. But if you have it in a safe, you are a scoundrel, in my opinion," he has replied, raising his tone against the president.
Almeida has also added that Sánchez is "defending a person who has committed a tax crime" because "Zapatero has acknowledged the commission of a tax crime when he recognizes that it was a gift from Saudi Arabia and did not pay taxes on those jewels." "He cannot expect such a childish argument and take the Spaniards for what he is taking them for," he has added, accusing the head of the Executive of belittling the citizenship.
The mayor has also pointed out that "the Spaniards are more interested in knowing what he has done as president of the Government than his private life in the realm of his marriage. Some may find it very funny, very carefree and Sánchez's closeness. What seems to me is an insult to the Spaniards to say in that program that a million homes have been built, among other things, because he lies, deliberately and consciously," he has condemned, questioning both the format of the interview and the data provided by the president.
