The spokesperson for Security and Immigration of Vox and head of the list for Congress for Ávila in the general elections of November 29, Samuel Vázquez, has assured that the party's candidate for Congress for Tarragona, Jordi de la Fuente, "will come out innocent" from the trial he has pending, set for July 2027, for an alleged hate crime.
Vázquez expressed this before the media this Friday in Barcelona, accompanied by the spokesperson for Vox in the Parlament, Joan Garriga, and by the party leader in the Barcelona City Council, Gonzalo de Oro, when asked about the case affecting De la Fuente for an alleged attack against a center for unaccompanied minors in El Masnou (Barcelona) in 2019.
The Prosecutor's Office of Mataró-Arenys de Mar is seeking sentences of between two years and two months and four years and four months in prison for seven defendants, including the Vox candidate for Tarragona, and Vázquez has described the procedure as a "machine" directed against his party.
"We do not hesitate to confront this machine, we are not afraid and we assume all the cost. My colleague Jordi will come out innocent just as I will," he stated, referring to his own conviction for electoral crime this same year.
The Vox leader emphasized that the case affecting De la Fuente is still in the investigation phase, that the candidate "has every right in the world to defend himself," and that only in the event of a conviction, "if he is convicted," will it be the time to ask the party to speak out about the assaults on centers for immigrant minors.
In the same way, he avoided commenting on the candidate for Tarragona's involvement in the Republican Social Movement, an old far-right political formation that dissolved in 2018.
The Catalunya of "socialism and separatism"
From the Besòs i el Maresme neighborhood of Barcelona, Vázquez has denounced that Catalunya has reached a critical situation due to "shootings, stabbings, drug houses, criminal gangs, summer terraces where only men or women with their faces covered sit."
"This is the Catalunya that socialism and separatism have designed. They probably both have the same responsibility. However, the political leaders who have designed this do not live here in this district of Sant Martí in neighborhoods like Besòs," he added.
Finally, he has once again defended Vox's initiative of "urgent and immediate deportation of all criminals, whether legal or illegal," insisting that the party has maintained this stance consistently and not only now for the electoral campaign, as, he has pointed out, other political forces do.
