The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has criticized this Saturday the new financing model approved in the Council of Fiscal and Financial Policy (CPFF), a meeting that the Madrid Executive decided not to attend, and which, in her opinion, only aims to "pay the nationalist party for four insignificant people," something she has described as "outrageous."
"Where are we going as a country? The people of Madrid can’t take it anymore, every morning working, paying taxes, lifting blinds to pay the nationalist party for four insignificant people so that (Salvador) Illa can stay in power and (Pedro) Sánchez, afterwards," lamented the regional leader during a political course kickoff event in Getafe, in which she participated alongside the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo.
In her speech, she reproached the central government for intending for the autonomous communities to "swallow" the debt accumulated by the separatists, with the sole purpose, she said, of Sánchez "buying the elections" in Catalonia and raising a "paralegal nation."
In her view, "they are abandoning Spain territorially every day" while continuing to "buy loyalties," something that, she argued, was evidenced within the Council of Fiscal and Financial Policy, where "the most affected by far is Madrid."
"Madrid already contributes 70% of the common fund with which public services in this country are paid and, let it be known, the people of Madrid are going to pay 800 million euros extra and that yes, that is what happened yesterday and that is what we cannot accept from Madrid, because we are the capital region," claimed the head of the Madrid Executive.
Ayuso maintains that the debate transcends the purely economic and that "this is not about money, but about Spain," while criticizing that, with this model, the government intends for Madrid to finance "embassies and all kinds of little schemes." "The money of the people of Madrid is not to be touched and whoever touches it will pay for it, I swear that," she concluded.
