The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has criticized this Monday the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, whom he accuses of "imposing" control of the port of Ceuta to house irregular immigrants after "the invasion" at the end of July, a decision he has described as "great irresponsibility." He has also emphasized that restoring normalcy and ensuring that the people of Ceuta live "calmly" will be "a national priority."
Feijóo expressed this during the presentation of the informative breakfast of the president of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas, organized by the Nueva Economía forum, after the Government has taken over the management of the Ceuta port for the "humanitarian attention" of migrant people in tents and other spaces, as stated in a resolution from the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility published this Saturday.
The popular leader has stressed that the Executive should make its decisions "listening to the city" and "not imposing them, as it did this weekend against the criteria of the Ceuta Government, against the criteria of the Board of Directors of the Port Authority, against the criteria of technical, legal, and business reports." "Of all," he emphasized.
Criticism of the port management and support for Vivas
In Feijóo's opinion, "placing more than a thousand immigrants in a port, a few meters from the boats that transport passengers to the continent" constitutes "a great irresponsibility, which also hinders the work of the State Security Forces and Corps." In this context, he warned that "Ceuta needs to know with what instruments and in what timeframes all those who occupied it illegally will be returned."
After insisting that the people of Ceuta are not "alone," he claimed the "dignity" of Vivas against the "indignity" he attributes to Sánchez's Executive, whom he accuses of having left the inhabitants of the autonomous city helpless. "That the people of Ceuta live calmly has to be and will be a national priority," he reiterated.
Feijóo and a dozen regional leaders of the PP accompanied Vivas this Monday at the aforementioned informative breakfast, which takes place on the eve of the Ceuta president's trip to Brussels to discuss with European institution officials the situation of the city.

Among the attendees were the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno; the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso; the president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda; the president of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras; the president of the Generalitat Valencia, Juanfran Pérez Llorca; and the president of Melilla, Juan José Imbroda.
The vice president of the Government of Aragón, Mar Vaquero; the president of the Basque PP, Javier de Andrés; the president of the PP of Catalonia, Alejandro Fernández; the president of the PP of Castilla-La Mancha, Paco Núñez; and the president of the PP of Asturias, Álvaro Queipo have also attended. Alongside them, the management committee of the PP has been present, including its general secretary, Miguel Tellado.
The meeting takes place a day before Vivas's trip to Brussels, where on Tuesday he will be received by the European commissioners for Home Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner, and the commissioner for the Mediterranean, Dubravka Suica. The Ceuta leader will also hold meetings with the president of the European People's Party, Manfred Weber, and with the president of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola.
