King Felipe VI held a working meeting on Monday with the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, and various commanders of the Armed Forces to study the situation in Ceuta from the defense perspective, following the massive entry of immigrants from Morocco recorded at the end of July.
As noted by the Royal House on its profile on the social network "X", the meeting was also attended by the Chief of the Defense Staff (JEMAD), Admiral General Teodoro Esteban López Calderón, the commander general of Ceuta, Luis Fernández Herrero, as well as the main operational commanders.
The publication is accompanied by an image of the meeting, which was not included in the official agenda of either the head of state or the Minister of Defense. In the photograph, Felipe VI appears dressed in the uniform of Captain General of the Army.
During those days, Felipe VI followed the massive entry of immigrants in Ceuta with "great concern and indignation," according to Zarzuela. In a meeting with the Ceuta president, Juan Jesús Vivas, coinciding with Ceuta Day on September 2, the monarch conveyed his intention to visit the autonomous city once the crisis was over, as explained by Vivas himself.
For his part, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, stated that the trip will take place when "the conditions allow for it," without specifying a concrete date, and later added that it would occur "in the coming weeks."
From the Royal House, the intention to convey "the support of all Spain" to Ceuta has been reiterated, and there has been a call to preserve unity and coexistence in the autonomous city.
