The Executive of the Autonomous City of Melilla has communicated that next Wednesday, October 14, its public employees will have free time starting at 10:00 hours, in order for them to attend the reception events of the Kings of Spain, Felipe VI and Letizia, on the occasion of their official visit to the city.

The Melilla Government explains that this decision seeks to facilitate public workers, along with family and close ones, to participate in a day in which the population wants to show their affection to the monarchs and gratitude for their trip to Melilla.

At the same time, the city's Executive has urged the heads of the General Administration of the State and private companies to join this initiative, so that their staff can also attend a visit that is considered of special relevance for Melilla and to strengthen the relationship between the citizens and the Crown.

As a precedent, the Autonomous City has recalled the visit made by the then Kings Juan Carlos I and Sofía on November 6, 2007.

Program of the visit of Felipe VI and Letizia

The provisional program of the presence of Felipe VI and Letizia includes three acts of an institutional and social nature. The first is scheduled for 11:45 hours at the Assembly Palace, in the Plaza de España, where the Kings will get to know firsthand the institution that represents the people of Melilla.

In the afternoon, at 16:15 hours, the monarchs will move to the Pintor Eduardo Morillas Early Childhood and Primary Education School, located on Avenida de la Juventud. Subsequently, at 17:45 hours, they will hold a meeting with a representation of Melilla society at the Melilla Puerto Hotel, in the San Lorenzo esplanade.

As part of the preparations for the arrival of the Kings, the Assembly Palace is illuminated from the night of Friday with the colors of the Spanish flag, an illumination that will remain lit until October 15, a day after the visit.

The Autonomous City frames all these actions in the organization of a day that aims to make participation easier for the people of Melilla and support the first visit of Felipe VI and Letizia to the city.
