Podemos has replied to Frente Amplio that its insistence on conditioning a specific understanding in Madrid and Catalonia cannot serve as an excuse to paralyze the agreements in the rest of the autonomous communities, and demands that this space reach a global agreement across all territories.
In an internal document accessed by Europa Press, the purple formation responds to Frente Amplio's offer, which proposed preferential starting positions for Podemos in the lists of Madrid and Catalonia. This proposal would imply, according to the text, altering the agreement already reached by the 'purples' with ERC, integrating Podemos into all the coalitions in which Frente Amplio participates, and granting it a co-spokesperson role in Congress, among other elements.
This approach does not convince Podemos, which reiterates its priority to close agreements without subordinating the entirety of the negotiations to what happens in Madrid and Barcelona. "We propose that Catalonia, where Comuns and ERC are going to compete, and Madrid, the constituency in which the existence or not of agreements does not penalize the vote, constitute singularities that do not prevent the agreement in the rest of the territories," it has added.
In response to Frente Amplio's proposal, Podemos presents as a counteroffer to advance already in the agreements in territories such as Extremadura, Euskadi, Cantabria, Galicia, or Murcia, defending that there the understandings are closed or very well underway and are "blocking from the direction of Frente Amplio." "It is essential to go together in those territories so that not a single leftist vote is lost. And in the same way, it is possible to agree on Andalusia, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Asturias, Navarra, and La Rioja.
