The former president of the Government and honorary president of the PPdeG, Mariano Rajoy, has urged the members of the Popular Party to get involved and contribute "what they can" to support Alberto Núñez Feijóo and "put an end to the darkest stage of democracy" in Spain since the entry into force of the Constitution.

In his speech this Saturday in Sanxenxo (Pontevedra), during the closing of the tribute to former mayors and former councilors of the PP in the province, he pointed out that "you all know what is happening in Spain at this moment. There are no adjectives to assess what this Government has done, they have run out."

Rajoy emphasized that the commitment of the membership is "necessary" for Spain to "regain normality" and stressed that "because this cannot continue," arguing that Spanish democracy must return to the "lost quality."

In this regard, he demanded that "for the Constitution and the Law to be respected, for there to be a true separation of powers, for the judiciary not to be attacked by the Government," referring to the fact that in recent times there have been situations "that were unthinkable" and that "no one had in mind."

As an example, he mentioned what "happened in Badajoz," with a judge who "they intended, they said, to eliminate." "Dear friends, our effort is necessary to change that state of affairs and for the government to govern, for the governments to address the real problems of the people," he added.

After referring to the rise in prices and the increase in the cost of living, he reproached that the central Executive now talks about housing when, he said, it did "absolutely nothing" in its eight years of mandate. "And now they say that in 48 hours they are going to fix everything," he criticized.

Rajoy defended that the Government should focus on "the politics of things and not the things of politics." "That is another story," he pointed out, before emphasizing that "what people want is for the day-to-day problems to be resolved or at least attempted to be resolved." Therefore, he made a call: "I ask for your effort, each one to do what they can, so that there is a normal government, which is not too much to ask."

He reiterated that Spain "must recover normality" and leave behind the "division that has been fostered among Spaniards by those who are in the Government of Spain and that does a lot of harm to coexistence, because it radicalizes what is a great country and what is a great nation." In this line, he emphasized that "and we do not want extremism or radicals of any kind, because they have never solved absolutely anything."

Rajoy has stressed that "it is our obligation to help Alberto Núñez Feijóo," whom he has recalled as an "extraordinary president of the Xunta," dedicated to "governing," making decisions, and seeking solutions to problems.

He has highlighted that Feijóo "has not insulted anyone and is a person of whom we can feel legitimately proud. He has personality, he has level, he has knowledge, and he has experience, and what he needs at this moment, although he already has it, but we have to be active, is to have us."
