The spokesperson of the federal Executive of the PSOE, Montse Mínguez, has assured that the demonstrations called for this Wednesday in support of Ceuta evidence a "partisan use" by the PP. At the same time, she has detailed that the socialist leadership has given the green light to a manifesto supporting the autonomous city in which it appeals to "responsibility, cooperation, commitment, and serenity".
"The tension does not help Ceuta," emphasized the PSOE leader at the press conference following the first meeting of the federal Executive of this political course, focused on the situation in the autonomous city after the massive entry of immigrants recorded a month ago.
In this context, Mínguez has lashed out at the Presidency of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), in the hands of the PP, for promoting the concentrations next Wednesday, September 2, in favor of Ceuta without having sought consensus with the rest of the political forces.
In her opinion, if the PP had previously agreed on the text to promote these concentrations within the FEMP, a common position of all the formations would have been achieved: "We are all with Ceuta".
However, the socialist spokesperson has questioned the protests planned for this Wednesday, September 2, because, as she has pointed out, "it is not about being with Ceuta for five minutes in a town hall square and then having Ceuta fall off the flag when it asks for help and solidarity".
"Those concentrations are against Pedro Sánchez"
When asked about the possible attendance of socialist municipal officials at these mobilizations, Mínguez has acknowledged that in the PSOE "there are free verses", although she has emphasized that the position of Ferraz on these calls is "clear".
"The position of the PSOE is what it is, we do not want to use the concentrations as a partisan use, but rather that those concentrations are not made for Ceuta. Those concentrations are against Pedro Sánchez, like everything promoted by the PP," she has denounced.
In the same vein, she has reiterated that the PP of Alberto Núñez Feijóo is "using" the situation in Ceuta against the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, "as they do with everything".
Condemnation of violence and defense of management
In the approved manifesto and in his appearance, the PSOE has expressed a "unequivocal" condemnation of any type of violence in Ceuta, whether against immigrants, against the State Security Forces and Corps, the Armed Forces, or against humanitarian organizations working on the ground.
"Ceuta needs serenity, cooperation, and commitment. It needs politics to be up to the level of its citizens. Being with Ceuta means upholding the law, protecting coexistence, and working together to restore normality while guaranteeing human rights," the text supported by the socialist Executive states.
At the same time, Mínguez has attacked the "nonsense" and "lies" that, in his opinion, PP and Vox are spreading about Sánchez's vacations, and has recalled the visits that the President of the Government and various ministers have made to the autonomous city since the massive influx of immigrants.
When asked whether the PSOE is self-critical for a supposed delay in the response, the spokesperson has maintained that the crisis has gone through "different phases" and has emphasized that the Executive has been present in all of them.
