The secretary of Organization of the PSOE, Rebeca Torró, has warned that the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, intends to dismantle the Ministry of Equality and reverse rights such as abortion and euthanasia "with his chainsaw."
"Feijóo acknowledges that his chainsaw would end the Ministry of Equality, the right to abortion, and the Euthanasia Law," she pointed out this Friday in a message on her 'X' account, reported by Europa Press.
The 'number three' of the PSOE has thus responded to Feijóo's words on Cadena Ser, where he stated that, if he reaches the Presidency of the Government, he will integrate the area of Equality into another department and will reopen the debate on the obligation for minors aged 16 and 17 to inform their parents if they choose to have an abortion.
The PP candidate for the general elections on November 29 has also advanced that he will modify the current Euthanasia Law to give a more decisive role to healthcare professionals in this procedure. "That dignified death can only be the end of a life that cannot be maintained at minimal levels of dignity," he stated.
From the PSOE, they maintain that Feijóo "dreams" of returning to earlier stages and emphasize that in the upcoming elections, it is not merely a matter of political alternation, but "advancing or going back decades." Torró understands that the initiatives proposed by the PP leader involve "threatening" consolidated social rights and calls to stop them through voting. "We cannot allow it," she insisted.
In a press release, Ferraz labels Feijóo as a candidate "of lies and regression" and argues that in the aforementioned interview he fell into "contradictions, falsehoods, and promises" that, they criticize, "last as long as it takes for him to find it convenient to fulfill them."
In this line, the socialists reproach him for proclaiming that he will not run in coalition with Vox "while negotiating with Abascal how to share the candidacies for the Senate," they point out. "How does Feijóo call it to negotiate with another party where each one presents themselves?" they ask him.
Debate on the most voted list and the Milei model
On the other hand, they accuse Feijóo of having abandoned the defense of the most voted list governing, despite the fact that in 2023 he committed to respecting that the candidacy with the most support in votes and seats should assume power. "His only obsession is to reach La Moncloa, no matter the cost and with whoever it takes," they maintain.
They also reproach him for his statements about the Argentine president, Javier Milei, who recently visited Spain and launched serious insults against the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, whom he called "dictator," "corrupt," and "thief."
Feijóo stated that he rejected those attacks on the president of his country, but at the same time praised the "reasonable" economic policy that, in his opinion, Milei is applying in Argentina, and harshly criticized Peronism and the Fernández de Kirchner couple.
For this reason, from the PSOE they criticize that Feijóo "finds in Milei an economic example to claim" and maintain that he is already "shamelessly wielding the chainsaw," although they trust that the citizens will "unplug" that "chainsaw" on November 29 at the polls.
