Madrid Metro has reopened to the public at 11:00 PM the Sol station, closed since 12:15 PM this Friday due to the elevated levels of ammonia detected. These originated from the accumulation of urine, feces, and other organic remains in the ventilation shafts, linked to the camping for housing at Puerta del Sol.
The public company communicated on its profile on the social network X that the reopening would take place "after objectively and documentarily verifying, with the results of the analyses, that the necessary safety and health conditions have been restored."
The closure, which affected the three Metro lines that converge at this station, was announced this Friday by the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, who explained that the decision responded to a request for occupational risk prevention from the unions.
However, the union organizations CC.OO., UGT, and Solidaridad Obrera later distanced themselves from this action and stated that they had not made such a request.
