The Secretary General of the PSOE in the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, warned this Saturday that the archipelago could see rights and resources cut if the right and the far-right manage to form a government in Spain after the general elections on November 29.

During the presentation event of the socialist lists in the islands for the 29N, the also Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory warned that, with PP and VOX at the head of the central Executive, the Canary Islands would find themselves with a government that would "turn its back" on the migratory phenomenon.

In this context, he emphasized that the intention of these formations would be to leave in the archipelago the migrant people who arrive irregularly, both adults and minors.

Similarly, he pointed out that the islands would stop receiving 1.3 billion euros extra annually that "have already been obtained" from the Government of Spain thanks to the agreement reached with part of the regional Executive.

Torres also mentioned as endangered achievements the future co-management of the airports, whose signing is expected for next week, as well as the protection of the autonomous state and the Economic and Fiscal Regime (REF). "All of that will be lost by the Canarians if the ultra right and far-right govern," he emphasized.

In addition, he accused the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, of adopting the theses of Vox in order to reach the Presidency of the Government, and warned that this approach could translate into a setback in rights and a democratic regression. Nevertheless, he expressed confidence that the PSOE will prevail in the upcoming elections.
