Twelve migrants of Moroccan origin have been arrested this morning in Ceuta for their alleged involvement in a violent assault that left four soldiers injured in the vicinity of the Benzú neighborhood. According to what they have indicated to Europa Press from the Superior Police Headquarters, the soldiers were ambushed by a group of between 30 and 40 people who threw large stones at them.

The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m., when the military members were heading to a surveillance post located in the Benzú area. Upon arriving at the site, several individuals emerged from different points in the surroundings and surrounded the vehicle in which the soldiers were traveling.

According to the same sources, the group then began to throw stones at the car, causing significant damage to the official vehicle. Due to the virulence of the attack, the four soldiers were forced to abandon the car and flee on foot to try to get to safety.

During the pursuit, which extended towards Calamocarro, the personnel continued to be hit by stones, causing them various bruises and other injuries.

The soldiers managed to contact emergency services through 112, which allowed for the immediate activation of a joint operation involving agents from the National Police and the Civil Guard. Upon the arrival of the first police units, the alleged assailants fled towards Benzú.

The security forces launched a search operation that ended with the arrest of twelve people, all of them of Moroccan nationality. Some of those involved tried to escape by jumping into the sea, prompting the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard to maintain search and location tasks in the coastal area.

The four soldiers were subsequently transferred to a healthcare center, where they received medical attention for the injuries sustained during the assault.

The police investigation remains open with the aim of identifying and arresting the rest of the participants in the attack.
