The spokesperson for Unidos por Ceuta, Hugo Escarpa, explained this Monday in Barcelona that they have decided to give a different meaning to the celebration of October 12 because, in his opinion, what is happening in Ceuta is "deplorable".
Escarpa made this statement before the media, moments before the start of the demonstration "Catalunya con Ceuta. Una misma España", called this Monday at noon on the Passeig de Gràcia in Barcelona.
The representative of Unidos por Ceuta expressed his support for the "compatriots from Ceuta" of the autonomous city, considering that they are suffering a situation of abandonment by the central Government, which he reproached for not fulfilling its obligation to protect them and guarantee their safety.
Alongside him participated a resident of Ceuta, Noelia Alcázar Fuentes, who traveled to Barcelona to denounce an "invasion" that, she laments, they have been suffering for 75 days.
Alcázar Fuentes stated that the situation has not changed since July 30, that numerous migrants continue to be housed in tents, and that their return to Morocco is not taking place: "The city of Ceuta is imploring the Government to please have them all returned to Morocco".
She also emphasized that they reject the distribution of migrants to different points of the peninsula and expressed her opposition to Ceuta becoming "the bridge" for illegal immigration.
