Asaja Castilla-La Mancha has decided to take to the streets again farmers and ranchers from the region on October 6 in Toledo, "in light of the seriousness of the situation facing the sector and the lack of concrete responses from the administrations."
The agrarian organization explains that, after months of conveying their demands to the different administrations, it believes that the time has come for a firm response and that the sector must take to the streets again to demand real solutions.
"The countryside has given time, has made proposals, and has waited for responses. But the problems are still there and the farms can no longer wait. Yesterday the Executive Committee made a clear decision: on October 6, the farmers and ranchers of Castilla-La Mancha have an appointment in Toledo. We want it to be a strong mobilization to say enough and demand decisions," stated the regional president of Asaja, José María Fresneda.
Among the main objectives of the protest are the recovery of the profitability of the farms, a water policy that guarantees production, solutions to the damages caused by wildlife, compensations for fires and restrictions, improvements in animal health, less bureaucracy, and effective defense of agricultural activity against competition from third countries.
Asaja encourages professionals from the countryside throughout Castilla-La Mancha to attend en masse to make Toledo the meeting point of a sector that, according to the organization, "is going through one of the most complicated moments in recent years."
"On October 6, we are not only calling on farmers and ranchers, but also the entire society. It is time to defend our activity, our capacity to produce, and our future," concludes Fresneda.
The association will detail in the coming days the route, the concentration, and the different actions planned for the day of mobilization.
