Asturian Rural Union (URA) has reported this Friday that 28 livestock farms in Asturias still have not received the aids from the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) aimed at the conservation of native breeds at risk of genetic erosion. The organization recalls that both the payment deadline initially set for June 30 and the new deadline marked for October 15 have been exceeded, without the payment being made effective.

According to the agricultural organization, the involved farmers held several meetings with the Administration after the first deadline was missed without receiving the committed amounts. In those meetings, according to URA, the Administration assured that the aids would be paid before October 15, a commitment that has also not materialized, with the 28 affected files remaining unresolved.

In light of this situation, URA has urged the Minister of Rural Affairs, Marcelino Marcos, to clarify the causes of the delay, provide detailed information on the status of each of the files, and immediately order the payment of the aids that are still pending. Furthermore, it demands that each farmer be directly informed about the processing of their application and given a specific date for the collection of the funds.

The agricultural organization emphasizes that these deadline breaches increase uncertainty among professionals in the field and stresses that these aids are essential to ensure the viability of the farms and the protection of native breeds. URA believes that the Administration has the obligation to respect the committed schedules and avoid further delays in payments.
