The leader of the Comuns in the Parlament, Jéssica Albiach, maintains that the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, should leave office after the appearance scheduled for this Tuesday before the Permanent Deputation of the Congress, considering that in the Urda railway accident (Toledo) there are technical responsibilities and others "that are political".
In an interview on TV3 reported by Europa Press this Monday, she stressed that public trust in the railway network is "broken" and has questioned whether Puente is the right person to help restore this credibility.
"Is the person who has been at the head of the railway system, of the Ministry of Transport, during the two most tragic accidents we have had in our country and more in the last 10 months, 115 people dead, able to help recover this trust? Well, I have my doubts," she stated.
Regarding the possible suspension of high speed between Madrid and Barcelona to carry out works on the line, she noted that trains can carry around 500 passengers, "but there are some that go with 1,000 passengers", while, as she indicated, airplanes have capacity for about 250 passengers.
"Right now there are no planes in Europe that can transport all the people who are currently moving daily between Barcelona and Madrid. Therefore, either a series of measures are taken or we stop creating so much uncertainty," she added.
