PP and Vox have rejected the request from PSPV and Compromís to urgently convene the Permanent Deputation of Les Corts, with the aim of having the Consell provide explanations about the latest fires recorded in the Comunitat Valenciana in the final stretch of summer —among them the one in El Saler, in València— and about the theft of the Treasure of Villena (Alicante), perpetrated at the end of August.
The decision was made in the board of spokespersons this Tuesday, where the conservative majority imposed its criteria. Both PP and Vox have argued that it makes no "sense" to activate this body when there are barely two days left until the official start of the session period, which will begin this Thursday, September 10.
In contrast to this position, PSPV and Compromís have criticized the scant parliamentary activity in the autonomous chamber and have denounced that it continues to be on "Caribbean vacations," reproaching that political control mechanisms are not enabled while the ordinary agenda is not resumed.
In a statement to the media after the meeting, the spokesperson for Vox, José Mª Llanos, explained that the board focused mainly on the processing of documentation and on several requests to convene the Permanent Deputation, which were ultimately rejected. Regarding these requests, he indicated that the appearances of the consellers to clarify the fires and the theft of Villena can be addressed in the corresponding commissions once the new session period begins.
As for the date of the General Policy Debate and the approval of the parliamentary calendar for the next work stage in Les Corts, Llanos specified that these matters will be addressed in the next board of spokespersons, scheduled for next Tuesday, as sources from the Presidency of Les Corts already advanced to Europa Press this Monday.
