The vice president of the Generalitat, Susana Camarero, has reiterated to Vox that the Valencian Office of Settlement and Return is aimed at providing "information, advice, and support with legal guarantees." As she detailed, its mission is to promote "integration and settlement for those who want to legally build their life project in the Comunitat Valenciana and information and support for those who voluntarily want to return to their countries of origin."

Camarero made these statements in the plenary session of Les Corts, in response to a question from Vox about this resource, whose name was changed within the framework of the budget agreement between PP and Vox, going from the Valencian Office of Inclusion to the Office of Settlement and Return.

The deputy spokesperson for Vox, David Muñoz, emphasized that among the "specific functions" of this body is "to support entities to promote the voluntary return of migrants to their countries of origin."

At the same time, he criticized that the 'president' of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, during the last General Policy Debate, stated "something totally erroneous" about this office, by claiming "that it served to validate foreign degrees." In the opinion of the Vox deputy, Llorca did "seem to remember" the real objective of the service when he responded to his parliamentary group, "but he did not do so particularly convinced."

"In Vox we demand that what was agreed upon is fulfilled," Muñoz insisted, who asked the vice president how the Consell plans to disseminate and explain the voluntary return programs.

In her response, the also councilor for Equality, Housing, Youth, and Employment defended that "it is compatible to help the integration of those who are legally in our country, who have to be with all the consequences and have to work because there is work," with "helping those who freely and voluntarily decide to return to their country."

Twenty voluntary return files already managed

Camarero explained that this task is part of the powers of the new office, which operates in the three provinces of the Comunitat Valenciana through in-person, telephone, and online assistance, and is managed by two Hispanic entities from the Third Sector. She specified that 85% of the people served come from Spanish-speaking countries and that, to date, "more than 20 voluntary return files have been processed."

Likewise, it has indicated that technical support and advice from the office regarding deadlines and available aid is being reinforced, in addition to holding periodic meetings with entities and consulates "to help" those who are part of these programs. "Yes, we must help those who are here and also those who decide to leave, and it must be done with the authorized entities," he emphasized.

The vice president has stressed that the competence of the Consell is limited to "informing and advising," given that "the returns are made by the Government." At this point, he took the opportunity to reproach Pedro Sánchez's executive for "not even returning the people who have invaded Ceuta."

"The Government creates the problem but does not provide solutions. It looks the other way and lets the autonomous communities pay for all the expenses generated by a regularization that they have invented and that is collapsing our public services," he criticized.

In relation to the homologation of degrees referred to by Llorca, Camarero has maintained that "those who are legally in our country deserve to work in what they have studied," and has accused the Minister of Universities, Diana Morant, of "condemning these people to work far below their training and qualifications."
