The spokesperson of the PP in Les Corts, Nando Pastor, has stated that he feels "especially comfortable" with Vox in the Comunitat Valenciana and has defended that the leaders of Santiago Abascal's formation "are intelligent people, like us," considering that both parties have managed to "set aside" their differences and focus on what unites them, against a PSPV and a Compromís that, he has denounced, have not even wanted to "sit at the table" to dialogue.
This was expressed by the 'popular' spokesperson in a press conference following the meeting of spokespersons this Tuesday, when asked about the current relationship between PP and Vox and whether he fears it may become tense during the new political course ahead of the regional elections of 2027.
Pastor has reiterated that he is "especially comfortable" with Vox, because "they are intelligent people, like us," and has highlighted that both parties "have been able, being different parties, to set aside what may separate us and work on what unites us," which he has defined as "the set of Valencian citizens."
As a demonstration of this collaboration, he has cited various "milestones" achieved under the presidency of Juanfran Pérez Llorca, such as the approval of "important agreements," including the package of measures in response to the war in Iran, the budgets of the Generalitat for 2026, or the accompanying law. "A lot of things," he has summarized, emphasizing that he feels "satisfied and happy" with the relationship with Vox, which he has placed within "normality."
In contrast, he has criticized the stance of the PSPV and Compromís, "with whom we have never been able" to agree on "anything," not even the renewal of the statutory bodies, because, he said, these formations "do not want to sit at the table." "They do not know how to set aside political differences and sit with those who do not think like you," he lamented, before recalling that Llorca "is still waiting" for the spokesperson of the coalition, Joan Baldoví, to come to his office to "talk."
Vox defends that it does not act out of electoral calculation
For his part, the Vox spokesperson, José Mª Llanos, questioned about whether his group will modify its way of working in light of the upcoming electoral cycle, has maintained that the "statements and behaviors" of the formation do not obey "electoral interests," but rather the defense of "the best political project for Spain and for the Valencians," something that he has assured he practices "from day one" and will maintain "until the last." "We are going to continue like this," he has guaranteed.
In this regard, he has explained that the party negotiates in the same way "whether two years before the elections or two months" and sits down to dialogue when he considers that a measure is "good for the Valencians." Furthermore, he has promised that Vox will always keep a "hand extended" with the aim of promoting more effective policies. "That is not going to stop," he has emphasized.
Debate on the budgets for 2027
Regarding the possibility of approving new budgets for 2027, Nando Pastor (PP) has limited himself to emphasizing that he is "very happy" for having pushed through the accounts for 2026 before the summer holidays, in addition to being "happy and satisfied." "I don't even want to imagine if before we left we hadn't fulfilled our duties," he has pointed out, while again offering an "extended hand" to reach future "important and good agreements."
In turn, José Mª Llanos (Vox) has insisted that the decision to present new accounts or not corresponds to the Consell, so his group will be "at what they present to us." However, he has reiterated that he is in favor of "recovering the normality" of approving the budgets at the end of the year and has warned that it would not make "sense" to process new accounts now just a few months after having given the green light to those for 2026, especially when "there are a few months until elections."
He has also insisted on the need to execute the current accounts "in full" before designing new ones and has reminded that Vox sat down to negotiate with the PP "so that --those for 2026-- are the best budgets," although he has specified: "They are not the best for the Valencians, because those would be Vox's, but they are the best we could negotiate. And those are the ones we have and the ones that must be executed in their entirety."
