The president of the Superior Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA), Lorenzo del Río, stated this Wednesday that, "as a citizen," he is "shocked" that "something that Parliament has globally rejected is automatically taken to the Permanent Deputation," referring to the royal decrees on housing approved this Tuesday in the Council of Ministers.

Del Río addressed this issue in response to questions from the media after delivering the annual activity report of the high Andalusian court to the president of the Parliament of Andalusia, Ana Mestre.

Although he avoided commenting from a legal standpoint on the use of the Permanent Deputation to validate the royal decrees on housing, he did express that this type of "very deep" norms require "better reflection so that we are not permanently changing."

In this line, he warned that "we run the risk of returning to legislation that precisely comes from the previous era of the Socialist Party, when the entire urban leasing law was modified."

He also emphasized that these are "very important" laws, which introduce "deep" changes and "affect all citizens from all sectors, of all ideologies," so, in his view, they must be processed with broad "consensus."
