The Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Madrid has opened investigation proceedings against the YouTuber and content creator Mikel Angulo for homophobic statements directed at the Real Betis footballer, Héctor Bellerín, made during the broadcast of one of his live streams, according to sources from the Public Ministry.

The Prosecutor's action originates from a complaint filed about a month ago by the Association for Transparency and Democracy in Sports, to which nearly a hundred people have since joined. The investigations aim to clarify the possible existence of a crime against fundamental rights and public freedoms.

The events took place during a live stream in which Angulo commented on the match played between Real Betis and Real Madrid, in which Bellerín faced the player Vinícius.

In that context, the content creator referred to the physical appearance and personal preferences of the green-and-white defender, stating that "he paints his nails" and "only reads books by women," before then launching homophobic insults.
