The AP-66, which connects Asturias and León, has resumed circulation after being closed overnight due to several landslides recorded inside the Negrón tunnel.
The incident occurred around kilometer 85 and forced a complete traffic cut on this road, one of the main road connections between Asturias and the Meseta. The Civil Guard reported the closure and established alternative detours while the debris was removed and the state of the infrastructure was checked.
Traffic returns to the AP-66
The reopening was announced during the morning of this Saturday, after the teams completed the necessary work to restore circulation. The Civil Guard communicated early on the restoration of traffic.
According to the information provided by the Government Subdelegation in León, the cut had affected the section between kilometers 112 and 84. The DGT, however, maintains an incident with one lane affected by damage to the road around kilometers 86 and 82.
The N-630, alternative during the cut
While the highway remained closed, vehicles were diverted via the N-630 through the Pajares pass.
The detour was established because the second tube of the Negrón tunnel remains closed due to modernization works being carried out on the infrastructure.
No victims or affected vehicles
The landslide did not cause victims or affected vehicles, according to the Civil Guard.
The AP-66 is the main road communication route between Asturias and León and crosses the Cantabrian mountain range through the Huerna corridor. Circulation is restored after the incident, although drivers must remain attentive to traffic indications and possible restrictions associated with the works in the tunnels.
