BBVA has reached a financing volume of 210 million euros aimed at entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises in rural areas, within a program launched in September 2025 to support projects in municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants.
In the second quarter of 2026, the number of operations has increased by 84% compared to the same period of the previous year, as indicated by the entity in a statement.
The initiative is aimed at self-employed individuals, entrepreneurs, and small companies that carry out their activities in localities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants, with a specific proposal to meet the needs of those who start or manage a business in rural areas.
The bank provides these clients with solutions for the daily management of the business, digitalization tools, and the support of specialized managers who understand the reality of each area and help identify the most suitable alternatives for each initiative.
Catalonia and the Northwest Territorial Directorate (Galicia, Asturias, and Castilla y León) lead the volume of formalized operations, with nearly 1,000 projects, followed by the Southern Territorial Directorate (Andalusia, Extremadura, Ceuta, and Melilla), with 880. Among these three areas, more than half of the operations processed since the start of the program are grouped.
