The airlines integrated into the Lufthansa Group will operate up to 50 flights per week between Europe and Japan during the summer of 2027, driven by the strong rebound in demand towards the Asian country. This increase includes the recovery of the Frankfurt-Nagoya connection by Lufthansa starting March 29.

Along with this reopening, the German airline will add an extra daily flight to Tokyo-Narita within its offering to the Japanese capital, while maintaining daily operations from Munich and Frankfurt to Tokyo-Haneda, the second major international airport in the Tokyo metropolitan area, the company has reported.

Swiss, another of the group's airlines, will also strengthen its presence in Asia during the upcoming summer season, with up to seven weekly frequencies between Zurich and Tokyo-Narita.

At the same time, the Japanese ANA, partner of the Lufthansa Group joint venture, will provide travelers with more booking alternatives, expanding options for those flying to Japan and other connected destinations.

In the words of the group's commercial director, Dieter Vrankcx, Japan represents "a key market." "As the leading European airline group in Japan, we maintain our commitment to connect people, cultures, and economies between Europe and the Land of the Rising Sun," he added.
