The Spanish business fabric experienced in August its best eighth month of the year in almost two decades. The number of newly created commercial companies increased by 5.7% compared to August 2025, reaching 7,526 companies, the highest record for an August month since 2007, according to data published this Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
This increase in August extends to three the consecutive months of growth in the establishment of companies, following the advances of 1.7% and 2.2% recorded in June and July, respectively.
The subscribed capital for the establishment of these new companies experienced a strong boost, with a rise of 92.8% year-on-year, reaching 456.4 million euros. The average subscribed capital reached 60,644 euros, which represents an increase of 82.3% compared to August 2025.
On the opposite side, business mortality also increased. In August, 1,315 companies were dissolved, 2.8% more than in the same month of the previous year, mostly by voluntary decision of the partners themselves. This implies that, on average, 42 companies disappeared each day in August.
