Urbaser has announced this Thursday the appointment of Ignacio Mosquera as the new financial director of the company. The executive will officially take up the position on September 14, taking over from Luis Martínez Jurado.
The waste management company has detailed in a note that this change is part of the start of a new expansion phase, coinciding with the operation in which Platinum Equity sells its stake in Urbaser to the EQT and Blackstone funds, a transaction whose closing is expected by the end of September.
With more than 25 years of professional experience, Mosquera has developed his career both in Spain and abroad. He began his career at Bain & Co. and later worked at KPMG, Banco Popular, and Millicom, in addition to serving as senior vice president and treasurer at Philips. For the last four years, he has served as the financial director of Gestamp.
In parallel, Martínez Jurado has held the financial direction of Urbaser for the last three years. During this period, he has led the transformation and strengthening of the financial area, the incorporation of new technical profiles, the management of the refinancings of 2025 and 2026, as well as the process of modifying the shareholding structure.
With the aim of ensuring a "fully orderly transition," the company has explained that Martínez Jurado will remain linked to Urbaser for the next two months, working closely with Mosquera and the rest of the management team.
"We are very pleased to welcome Ignacio to our management team. His experience will be of great value to the company in this new phase, and I am convinced that he will contribute decisively to our upcoming growth and transformation objectives," said the CEO of Urbaser, Fernando Abril-Martorell.
"I also want to express special thanks to Luis for his commitment and for the excellent work done over these years. [...] I also thank him for his willingness to accompany us during the coming weeks to ensure an orderly transition," he added.
