With the general elections on November 29, 2026 getting closer, one of the usual inquiries is how to know which polling station to vote at. Although many citizens go to the same center in each call, the location may change due to modifications in the electoral organization or in the census data.

To avoid unnecessary trips, voters can check the polling station and electoral table assigned to them through the services of the Electoral Census Office, dependent on the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

Consulting the polling station at the INE

The electronic headquarters of the INE offers services related to registration in the census and consultation of electoral data. Citizens can access the available procedures to check their census situation and the voting place that corresponds to them.

Depending on the service used, the consultation may require electronic identification or the entry of certain personal and territorial data.

It is important to use the official services of the INE and verify that the information specifically corresponds to the general elections of 29N.

The census card that arrives at the home

The Electoral Census Office usually sends an informative census card with the data of the section and the corresponding table, as well as the assigned polling station.

It is not mandatory to present this card to vote. Its function is to facilitate the location of the table, but the right to vote depends on the census registration and the identification of the voter.

What to do if the polling station has changed

If the location does not match that of previous calls, the updated official information for these elections must prevail.

The citizen can also consult the town hall or the Provincial Delegation of the Electoral Census Office when they encounter difficulties locating their table.

The documents to bring to vote

On election day, it will be necessary to identify oneself with one of the documents accepted by the regulations, such as the DNI, passport, or driver's license under the legally established conditions.

The census card does not replace these documents. It also does not allow voting at a table different from the assigned one, except for the exceptional cases contemplated by electoral legislation.

Checking the polling place before November 29 is especially advisable for those who have recently moved or have missed several elections without going to the polls.
