The spokesperson for the Comuns and candidate for the Mayor of Barcelona, Gerardo Pisarello, has expressed his perplexity towards the head of the list of ERC for the general elections on November 29, Gabriel Rufián, after the pact sealed between the republicans and Podemos became known: "It is not what he himself had been proposing based on an antifascist analysis that I share."

In the interview granted this Tuesday to 'Nació' and collected by Europa Press, he emphasized that "it is evident that this is not solved with an agreement between two, but among many more parties. And I was even surprised that he did not propose a Comuns-ERC agreement in Catalunya."

Questioned about the degree of cohesion of the Frente Amplio, led by the former mayor of Barcelona Ada Colau, Pisarello pointed out that "for the moment" it has the support of Más Madrid, Movimiento Sumar, Izquierda Unida, and Comuns, a base that he already considers significant.

On housing matters, he defended that the public housing stock must be expanded both through new construction and through rehabilitation, but also by resorting to the expropriation of properties from "vulture funds," and insisted that there are legal instruments that allow it to be carried out.

Regarding municipal policy in Barcelona, Pisarello has criticized the current mayor, Jaume Collboni, whom he described as a councilor "without his own political initiative," and reproached him that, in the three and a half years he has been at the head of the council, he has not promoted reference measures to reduce the cost of living in the city.
