Renfe has informed that this Tuesday there could be alterations and delays in the departures and arrivals of several trains on the Madrid-Barcelona connection, after yesterday afternoon the line was interrupted due to a fire in the tail cabin of an AVE covering the route "Madrid Puerta de Atocha-Almudena Grandes-Figueres".

The circulation between both cities began to be gradually restored last night, allowing normality in the railway infrastructure to be slowly recovered.

Early this Tuesday, Renfe has warned through its social networks that, as a direct consequence of the incident recorded on Monday, the service on this line may experience changes in its operation and suffer delays on different trains.

In light of this situation, the operator recommends users check the updated status of their train on the official channels before traveling to the station. Additionally, it reminds passengers that if their train is affected, the company will contact them via SMS or email using the contact details linked to the reservation.

The railway company also emphasizes that changes of tickets and cancellations have been made available to affected travelers at no additional cost, with the aim of facilitating the reorganization of their travels.

According to the data released by Renfe last night, the incident recorded this Monday affected a total of "33 trains, 18 of which could not leave their station of origin and 14 were stopped at stations." In total, "12,979 travelers" were affected.

The public company has indicated that for the moment the causes that triggered the fire in the train's cabin are unknown and has initiated an investigation process to clarify what happened and determine the exact origin of the incident.
