The full Parliament has rejected this Tuesday the proposal to hold a minute of silence in memory of Maricarmen, the elderly woman evicted from her home in Madrid and who died without returning to her home. In light of this refusal, the PSIB has chosen to perform the gesture during one of its questions in the control session of the Govern.

At the beginning of the session, the socialist spokesperson, Iago Negueruela, proposed that the minute of silence be added to the agenda. The president of the Chamber, Gabriel Le Senne, initially refused, citing the lack of consensus among the parliamentary groups.

In this situation, the spokesperson for MÉS per Mallorca, Lluís Apesteguia, asked Le Senne to directly consult the hemicycle about the stance of the parties, criticizing that their opinion had not been gathered. As a result, MÉS per Mallorca, Més per Menorca, and Unidas Podemos expressed their support for holding the minute of silence.

For her part, the spokesperson for Vox, Manuela Cañadas, rejected the initiative, considering it "an absurd 'performance' of the left." "There are many 'Maricamens' in Spain that they have not cared about," she reproached the promoting groups.

In the same vein, the PP, through its spokesperson, Sebastià Sagreras, did not explicitly clarify whether they would join the tribute, reminding that Vox's opposing vote already prevented it from taking place.

"It is evident that there is no unanimity and that there will be no minute of silence; from the PP, we wanted to take the opportunity to express our respect for the thousands of evicted since Sánchez has been in power," he stated, also conveying his condolences to Maricarmen's relatives.

Finally, in the first question from the PSIB during the control session, the deputy Carol Marquès reserved a minute of her turn to hold that minute of silence, to which the rest of the left-wing parliamentarians present in the hemicycle joined.
